Memphis Seminary Master of Divinity and Lay Leaders Course on Culture, Church and Mission
Church, Culture and Mission
This seminar seeks to examine the transcultural Gospel and foster mission-shaped imagination and praxis for leading congregations in faithful witness to the Gospel. The course explores the foundation for mission through the triune God’s calling and sending of the church into diverse cultures. Students are invited to construct missional church leadership strategies that are contextualized by their theological tradition and place of ministry. Leadership strategies that create bridges between Gospel and cultural context are presented through case studies and in teaching modules. The course will explore the expansive church growth of the Southern Hemisphere church in order to glean insights for re-casting new forms of witness appropriate for leading mission-shaped congregations in the North American mission field.
